ZeAllgrate FRP Structural Profiles — Complete Catalog & Section Properties
High stiffness-to-weight FRP framing members
Pultruded structural profiles carry axial and bending loads in support framing, platforms, bridges and conveyor supports — ≈ 70% glass by weight.
Shape range
I-beams, wide-flange beams, channels, equal-leg angles, square/round tubes, flat bars and round rods.
High stiffness-to-weight
≈ 70% unidirectional glass gives longitudinal modulus ~22–28 GPa at a quarter of steel density.
Corrosion-proof
Non-corroding, non-conductive and non-sparking — ideal for chemical, marine and electrical environments.
Section properties (computed from nominal cross-sections)
Ix / Zx about the strong axis; Iy / Zy about the weak axis. Weight per linear metre at ≈ 1.85 g/cm³. Zx = Ix / (h/2) holds for every row.

Secondary shapes and section properties
Ix / Zx about the principal strong axis. Angles are equal-leg; for angles, Zx uses the extreme fiber from the centroid.

Simply-supported, deflection limit L/240 (typical beam limit)
Allowable UDL (kN/m) by span, including a long-term safety factor for creep. Short spans are stress-limited; long spans are deflection-limited.

Pultruded I-beam with labeled dimensions
Schematic, not to scale.
Bolted, bonded and support details
FRP profiles are typically bolted or adhesively bonded; never weld.
Bolted connections
Use oversized holes (+2 mm), minimum edge distance 2× bolt diameter, steel side plates / FRP angle brackets; torque to 25 – 30 N·m.
Adhesive bonding
Vinyl ester / epoxy bonding for flush joints; surface-abrade, apply per resin datasheet; design lap length for shear.
Bearing & stress
Allowable bearing stress ≈ 69 MPa (F.S. ≈ 3); spread bearing loads with side plates to avoid local crushing.
Support design
Provide lateral-torsional restraint at supports; brace compression flange to prevent lateral-torsional buckling on long spans.
Platform support framing
Beams and columns for FRP grating platforms in chemical plants.
Conveyor supports
Corrosion-free support frames over wash-down and corrosive process lines.
Pipe racks
Non-conductive, non-corroding racks for corrosive piping and cable trays.
Bridge superstructure
Pedestrian bridge girders and decks where steel would corrode.

Selecting the Right Section
| Section | Typical Use | Why It Is Chosen |
|---|---|---|
| I-beam | Platform support beams, long-span framing | High stiffness-to-weight for bending loads |
| Channel | Edge rails, equipment frames, screen supports | Easy bolting to flat faces; torsional stiffness |
| Angle | Bracing, brackets, edge protection | Light, cheap corner connection member |
| Square / round tube | Handrail posts, legs, space frames | Uniform section, easy cutting and fitting |
| Flat bar / plate | Grating borders, stiffeners, gussets | Simple bearing surface for grating and clips |
Dimensional Tolerances and Quality
Pultruded profiles are supplied to standard manufacturing tolerances: section dimensions ±1.5–2% or ±0.8–1.5 mm (whichever is greater), length cut tolerances typically ±3 mm, and straightness checked over the length. Verify against the project drawing before fabrication — cut lengths, hole patterns and notches are usually the tolerance-critical items in a framing package. Each profile lot carries batch traceability to the raw materials and QC records, the same documentation discipline as ZeAllgrate grating.
Connection and Framing Practice
- Bolted joints — stainless steel bolts with oversize clearance; never over-torque beyond the recommended value (see the connection design guide).
- Adhesive bonding — structural adhesives for permanent joints; surface-prep and cure per the adhesive manufacturer.
- Combined systems — profiles frame the structure; ZeAllgrate grating, clips and handrail complete the access package from one supplier.
- Bearing — always provide full-section bearing at supports; partial seats concentrate stress at the web.
